chennai maagana famines 1876-78 - Historic video

Chennai famine & critical poverty at the period of 1876-1878
About 1876 to 1878 the Chennai was affected with the famine and drought in the middle of the two years the 50 lakhs people were died due to poverty and disease.1858 the Chennai has come under the British control, the British people introduced many vehicles and new seeds to the Tamilnadu farmers  and export the available resources to their countries, due to this system the local marketing has disturbed the grains had huge marketing to other countries, 1876 there was environmental changes that was called as Neno there was no rainfall during that period.
The agricultural product has reduced due to lack of rain fall and the British exports the agricultural products to their country they were not stop exports and given to the Indian poor people. The people were resisted to tackle their hungry so they used their protected grains for food thus they couldn’t use their accumulate grains for cultivation for next year thus the agriculture has not developed in many acres. The deficiency of food issue was sustained in this period the Tanjore district is well known for surplus agricultural product but on that period there also the people were died due to insufficient food and starvation.
1876 the British people clear about the famine and starvation of the Tamilnadu people. Sir Richard temple is the head of the Poverty Reduction Committee. He spends more money for the Bihar Poverty Rehabilitation programme that was remark by the British government. Thus he was hesitated to modify the Chennai people poverty problem. He didn’t stops the agricultural products exports to the British country when it gets brutal subsequently they decide the issue got terrible and starts the rehabilitation programme but they follow a strict rules and regulation for this programme the physically challenged person, old age person and children only got the benefit but the other people must hard work in their field to get the rehabilitation remuneration. Those who get money for the hard work that persons involved in the building work those people were only built the Buckingham Canal.  The beneficiaries must hard work in the field then only the British government gives the rehabilitation things otherwise more people claims rehabilitation benefits like this the Richard Temple thought.
When the monsoon starts the Malaria spread over there this was killed lakhs of people, 2 years 9 crores had spend for rehabilitation, the poverty killed some lakhs of people but the data has collected improperly. According to the British government data 52 lakhs people died on that period. But other data’s shows it exceeds the data’s more when compare to the government data. The other scientist ensure the 1 crore 3 lakhs people were died on that period. The south Indians migrate to Morris’s, Srilanka and Burma for due to poverty and famine. They migrate under an agreement process with the British government and their generation live in the same country now onwards, that why the Mullai Perriyar Dam has built on that period.
